The 2015-16 Season and Choices

We have chosen to live our retirement years in a wonderful southwest Florida Golf community. Herons Glen and the surrounding area offer a multitude of activities for our pleasure. We have bocce, chess, bridge, the beaches, tennis, pickle ball, biking, and of course golf at a great venue and many other activities to occupy of time.

For golfers, many of us have also chosen to join the Herons Glen Men’s Golf Association (HGMGA) as part of our golfing fun. Each Tuesday morning we offer an exciting slate of games and tournaments to our over 250 members . [Click Here] to see the schedule for the 15-16 season.  Many of our members also choose to gather at the Nest on Tuesday’s after play to share lunch, a beverage and swap “half truths”.

For the upcoming season, the MGA has chosen to add a new twist to our weekly games – CASH:

  1. $150 for Tuesday morning Men’s Day Hole in one! This will be a year-round award. Cash awards at the monthly meeting following a member’s hole in one on Tuesday mornings.
  2. $100 for season-long closest to the pin: (Hole in Ones DO NOT COUNT for this category). From the second Tuesday in October through the second Tuesday in April.  Cash awards to be presented at the monthly meeting in April
  3. $10 for the weekly closest to the pins: Second Tuesday in October through the last Tuesday in April. Cash awards presented at monthly meetings for the previous week’s winners as well as the current Tuesday winners. This will be in addition to the $5 awarded in the Pro Shop.

Along with the popular weekly gross and net skin games these new awards should make Tuesday mornings even more interesting.

Choosing when to play at Herons Glen becomes more difficult during the peak season, as your “play points” become a premium and everyone is faced with “which group do I drop this week, or do I sleep in or play in the afternoon?” We’re trying our best to make your choice more complicated!
